Here we have yet again, another case of me defending capitalism, but this time from criticisms put forth by a communist. This time, an Instagram user by the name of Vegan Communism offered up a criticism of capitalism through highlights of various death totals, which for whatever arbitrarily defined reason would be easily managed if capitalism did not exist. My response to each of his statistical arguments will be in italics.
It is all fine and noble to care for the poor, and believe that the government ought to do something, but it is important to realize that the greatest mechanism in lifting people out of poverty does not come from the minds or labor of government bureaucrats, but instead from economic freedom. Truth be told, capitalism is the greatest force in human history at alleviating poverty and raising the standard of living of masses of people.
An Instagram user by the name of Syndicalist Kartoffel recently made an attempt to criticize capitalism through a multitude of occurrences in which he believes are the result of capitalism, and not greater government regulation and centralized planning.
